ABOUT OCKHAM’S RAZOR

Consider these theories about the movement of planets, and select one of them by using the principle of Ockham’s razor. Justify your election
• The planets move around the sun in ellipses because there is a force between any of them and the sun which decreases as the square of the distance.
• The planets move around the sun in ellipses because there is a force between any of them and the sun which decreases as the square of the distance. This force is generated by the will of some powerful aliens.

  1. The problem of Climatic Change

    Climatic change is a significant change in climate conditions; it also can be named “global warming”. And this one is caused by human activities that are increasing the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. These are causing the Earth to heat up.
    But to understand it better, I’m going to explain the process of this effect:

    The dioxide of carbon and other gases warms the surface of the Earth naturally, catching the solar hot in the atmosphere. This is good because maintains our planet habitable. But burning hydrocarbons, gases, oil and drilling forests, would increase the quantity of CO2 in the atmosphere and in the temperature.

    In other words, the ozone layer protects us from the ultraviolet rays, and all the greenhouse gases that we are throwing to the atmosphere cause the industry, transport, agriculture, and the pollution in general, and it's making a very large hole in that layer where those rays come into the surface of our planet warming it causing the next catastrophic consequences:

    -The glacials are melting, and cause it, the level of water would increase covering some costs and little islands in the future. It’s predicted that in 2100 the level of water will go up between 20 an 40 cm.

    -The plants and the animals are forced to change their habitat, so it could wipe out a very high number of species. Here you can see some of that species that are in danger of extinction.

    -The number of storm and droughts would increase, causing a lot of hot waves and natural disasters as hurricanes and tsunamis.

    It's clear that we can solve this problem ourselves. It's more, we have a moral obligation to do it.
    The little changes of our every day’s life can make big differences and help to stop the global warming. The opportune moment is NOW.

    How?
    -Saving as much energy as possible
    -Using less our car and more the public transport
    -Recycling
    -Using as less water as possible
    -Decreasing the consume in general
    -Turning off the electronic gadgets
    -Landing a tree
    -And, of course, transmitting those advices to all your family and friends

  2. (Continuation)

    Fortunately there are people who believe in saving the world, and they have created millions of organizations around the world with the objective of improve our planet's environment. Those are the best example of the paper of Civil Society.

    GREENPEACE
    Greenpeace is a non-governmental organization founded in 1971,that served to worldwide to get the environmentalism and peace, using direct actions, lobbying, research and innovation as method. Priorities and campaigns are fundamentally based in the fight for the climate and against the nuclear power.

    Wild World Fund
    In 1961 a little amount of organization funded this organization. It's the only way of working that combines global reach with a foundation in science, involving action level from local to global and ensuring solutions that meet the needs of both people and nature.

    WWF's mission is the conservation of nature. Using the best scientific knowledge to preserve the biodiversity by
    protecting natural areas and wild plants and animals, including endangered species;
    the use of renewable natural resources;
    more efficient use of resources and energy, and reduction of pollution.

    In my Opinion those organizations are based in the good people that want to get that each day the world could be a little bit better and this people are differentiated in two groups: the collaborationists and the volunteers. I don't considering myself as a volunteer, but yes as a collaborationist, for example with our very little organization at high school Agenda21.

    In conclusion, The Environmentalism is based on prevent that not only our specie, but all the species in the world survive to the destruction that we have created. And on get a better world where our descendants could habit. We haven't to do it only for us, but also for them, for the sons of our sons.
